The Osmond brothers threw one big house party at the De Montfort Hall.

Jimmy, Wayne, Jay and Merrill effortlessly transported their devoted following of predominantly female fans back to their screaming teenage years of the 70s.

It was brilliant. Like coming home!

Hits like Love Me For A Reason and Let Me In got the crowd to their feet and kept them dancing for much of the night.

True showmen, The Osmonds featured harmonious ballads such as I Believe, some country and western and good old rock ‘n' roll numbers.

Jay's drum solo was awesome and Jimmy's oh-so-smooth delivery of new song It's Raining won rapturous applause.

Lights spontaneously illuminated the arm-waving audience, making it a two-way show.

Gentle banter between the brothers added to the party atmosphere – and Merrill briefly sang to a very lucky person down a fan's mobile phone!

The clapping, singing, banner-waving and screaming reached a crescendo when the “boy band” of three decades ago blasted out Crazy Horses.

Merrill said: “We've been doing this a long time and we still enjoy doing this together.”

I thought it a shame brother Donny was not in the line-up.

However, their star quality still beams out radiantly – and I left convinced they enjoyed the night as much as I had.
