Merrill Osmond to Debut New Hit Song
“America” at Canton Charter Academy

[Canton, MI]--He “was born a child of freedom given liberty and life”, and when Merrill Osmond sings those words from his new hit song “America” for the first time publicly, he will do so with 530 children from Canton Charter Academy, 49100 Ford Road, in Canton, MI, on Fri. Dec. 14 at 2 p.m.

Merrill Osmond wrote the song in response to the September 11^th Tragedy and chose the Families of Freedom Scholarship Fund™, which was founded by Citizens’ Scholarship Foundation of America™(CSFA) and Lumina Foundation for Education to provide education assistance for postsecondary study to financially needy dependents of those killed or permanently disabled as a result of the terrorist attacks, to benefit from the sale of the CD. According to Osmond, he chose the Fund to donate 50 percent of the proceeds from the CD in keeping with his strong philanthropic interest in education.

CSFA has pledged that 100 percent of all contributions to the Fund will support undergraduate education of eligible students at accredited U.S. two-and-four-year colleges, universities or technical-vocational schools. Former President Bill Clinton and former Senator Majority Leader Bob Dole are serving as co-chairs of the overall campaign fund effort for the Families of Freedom Scholarship Fund™. 

“I think that children can best express the innocence our nation lost on September 11^th,” Osmond said.  “It is a reminder to all of us that one day we may again regain that innocence and sense of security, we as adults have lost.” 

“What better place to introduce the song than at a school with school-aged children at an event sponsored by Wayne County Community College District,” Osmond added. 

The CD was also recorded in Canton, MI at Talent Live Studios when Osmond was in town for a WCCCD event in September.
